Hi all, what are the prospects of expanding the database to included later years? Is there interest in finishing off the decade and accepting submissions of titles up to and including 1989?

I have a lot of listings up through the time I lost interest in dancehall, around 1995, but it would take a lot of time to edit

The third book edition included quite a few records from 1986 and beyond, some Studio One productions for example. It would probably be useful to have the more exhaustive possible discographies of some historical labels/producer, including Studio One, Lee Perry, Augustus Pablo... This would be a great help for collectors.

I wonder if the work could be distributed. Mike, if you already have a good chunk of material documented, perhaps something could be put together without a heroic effort. How is the RKR database currently updated? Is this the kind of thing where entries could be edited and formatted in a spreadsheet by many individuals and then consolidated and dumped into the RKR sql database (or whatever the backend DB is)? Perhaps a group could be put together to work with the 1987 entries you have, and then put out calls for additional submissions? If the process was successful and people were keen, other years could follow. What do you think?

yes, I could make this information available on a spreadsheet for editing and eventual addition to RKR......if you are interested email me at oldbroom1@gmail.com..................I would like to expand up to year 1992 which was the year I stopped writing the dancehall column "Musical Murder" for The Beat magazine....and also try to do justice to some of the represses Nicholas mentions
